I I experienced some bleeding in my pregnancy (8 wks) which I had for 3 days now and which got heavier on Friday evening. When I rang 111 I was told I had to go to A&E where I would have a scan done to establish if I miscarried or not. It was a bank holiday weekend and I was going away for 2 weeks on Monday so couldn’t wait for the Early Pregnancy Unit to open. A&E referred me to a Gynaecology Unit where I was refused a scan as I was told they didn't do it on the weekends. I found that strange as when I rang 111 a doctor there told me that any A&E could do the scan. This is the second time I used East Surrey Hospital. I gave birth there to my first child in March 2013 and I would describe my experience as horrific. I had an emergency caesarean there and I found that the night nurses in particular were extremely unhelpful, doing nothing all night until half an hour before their shift was due to finish. I will never forget the face of the morning nurse who found me in a bed full of blood as no one bothered to check on me on my first night after caesarean. Luckily, I was too weak to feel anything. Twice now I used East Surrey Hospital and twice I was disappointed.
