"Staff Ignorance"

About: Leigh Infirmary

(as the patient),

I would like to complain about your staff ignorance at Leigh infirmary outpatients. I attended the sleep service recently. The person on reception was more interested on playing on their phone than checking me in. I was stood there at least a minute before I was even noticed there. I was then checked in then they carried on messing with their phone. I noticed this ignorance with quite a lot of people checking. In surely you must have a ruling about using phones at work. I work for Wigan council and we have to turn our phones off during working hours surly you have a rule in place for this nonsense

I’m not one for complaining it just made me annoyed and if it annoyed me surely it annoyed the other patients

Response from Susan Heighway, Patient Relations / PALS Manager , Patient Relations / PALS, Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust

We were sorry to learn of your experience when attending the Outpatient Department at Leigh Infirmary. It is not the standard of service we aim to provide to our patients when attending for their appointments. I will ensure that the Health Care Operations Manager is advised of your posting and ask that all staff are reminded of the standards of behavior expected when working as front line staff.

Kind regards
