My experience after beginning admitted onto the orthopaedic ward for a broken humerus on Thursday 14th August was initially exceptional, although I did wait 6.5hrs for a bed! Friday morning saw the specialist who told me my aftercare and was able to go home. It was thought I had broken my ankle as well so a X-ray was organised for that day, by 7pm that evening still had not received X-ray and at 4.30pm nursing staff asked if they could move me to another room. The nursing staff and a support worker pushed my bed through the hall way were my bed was banged into the wall! You had to peel me off the ceiling with the pain that was caused!. Then I was put into room 7 next to a man who (I recorded) who shouted out/screamed every few seconds the same one word over an over again with no let up! By 6.30pm I was driven to despair, I asked to be discharged without X-ray, as I discharged myself I was not allowed pain management meds. Also did not receive any literature on what to expect from my injury. Had to go to the doctors on the Tuesday to receive follow up appointment and my visit to Orthopaedics had not been recorded !
