I saw my GP on a Friday earlier this year and he wanted to rule out a TIA and faxed a referral to the hospital. Within 3 hours I had a phone call asking me to go in on the Monday at 8.45! I attended and was looked after magnificently and they even arranged an MRI that same afternoon. Other tests were requested and I adhered to all of these. I saw a doctor in clinic on 21/7/14 and he said all my tests were clear - MRI, echocardiogram, 72 hr blood pressure monitor, 48 hr heart monitor, bloods, urine, etc etc but he wanted to find out what the problem really was. An old-style doctor who sees medicine as a challenge to get to the bottom of the problem. He suggested I may have sleep apnea, carried our some tests and arranged for me to be seen in the lung function unit. I attended and was given a monitor for oxygen levels. After not knowing what was wrong for so long, I heard yesterday that indeed I do have obstructive sleep apnea and I await one last appt. I have to thank the doctor and his colleague plus all his staff for their dignity and perseverance in treating me. Will you please make sure my sincere thanks and gratitude are passed on to him and his team.
