"Staff going above and beyond"

About: Croydon University Hospital

I visited phlebotomy at the request of my hematology consultant (clinic appointment later that day) & had some tests requested from gastro-enterology. The check in procedure with reception revealed a problem as the paperwork from hematology had not been received. The receptionist suggested I go through and check with the phlebotomist whether the system had the relevant information available. The phlebotomist was unable to find the paperwork either and suggested I should go to the hematology clinic anyway and ask them what was going on. I was quickly back in phlebotomy because the system updated pretty much as I was checking in for outpatients. I saw the same phlebotomist who was very polite and friendly when discovering the (another test) was not properly entered into the system. It required her to go in person to the hematologists to get the relevant paper work so that the lab would take my samples. She really couldn’t have been better or done any more; she was clearly going beyond what she was required to do to help. Once she knew which tubes to use and had the relevant labels everything went smoothly. Thank you.
