I went to the hospital on tue the 19th august cause i started bleeding when i was pregnant they took blood off me then told me to ring early pregnancy unit the next morning to get my result and to book a scan to see if i was miscarrying and when i rang bk the woman on the phone was really snotty and unhelpful And told me they couldnt do a scan till i was seven weeks pregnant but they did a scan the week before on my sis that was only six week four days and now im loosing my baby through them not taking the ryt precautions this is how badly they are neglecting patiants and not thinking bout the health of me or my baby

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about our Early Pregnancy Assessment unit (EPAU). I am sorry to hear about the treatment you received and appreciate you kindly taking the time to give us feedback under these distressing circumstances.

I have passed your comments onto the Matron for this area for investigation and would encourage you also to speak to a member of my team about your experience by contacting patientrelations@bfwhospitals.nhs.uk or 01253 955589, as they will be able to register your concerns and advise you on the actions that will be taken.

When a patient is referred to the EPAU experiencing the symptoms you described above, the procedure is to take two separate blood samples. These samples are then sent for testing and if the pregnancy hormone in the blood is increasing or doubling a scan is offered to the patient, as this means that the woman is still pregnant. If the pregnancy hormone is decreasing, then unfortunately this means that the woman is miscarrying and a scan isn’t typically offered under these circumstances. I am sorry that this wasn’t communicated sensitively to you by staff in the unit and I will ensure they learn from this.
