"Thankyou to all staff on ward Q4 at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I spent a few days at The Hallamshire Hospital as I had a mini stroke and I have nothing but praise for the staff there!

All were very friendly, in particular Patience the admissions nurse. She was brilliant and took her time to explain and answer my questions. I did notice that consultants used far too much jargon when explaining things to patients. However, the doctors seemed to be more in touch with patients and spoke to them in plain English which was good as it made things easier to understand.

Also, all the nurses were very busy but still took the time to speak and explain things to you.

With regards to cleanliness, the ward was very clean, and the floors were swept and cleaned at least once/day. The bottles of alcohol took some getting used to but then it becomes second nature -staff also insisted that visitors didn't sit on the beds which I thought was good.

The only problem I found at the hospital was the parking - it is diabolical. You have to park very far away and then walk or catch a bus to the hospital - and when you do find a space, it is very expensive, much more than at Rotherham NGH.

Overall, a big thank you to all staff for my brilliant care.
