"Disgusting care!"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

First of all if you can help it never go this hospital. it was bad enough when i had my daughter and had to stay on the maternity ward, never in my life have i been treat like a scumbag by nurses and made to feel so small. but my complaint is about a current family member staying on one of your wards. he is a elderly man who suffers from diabetes and the level of care he is receving leaves something to be said!. he is more ill now than when he came in! the nurses dont respond to to his call button even the man next to him waited 20 mins and still had to shout for a sick bowl! he has fell while going to the toilet and hurt his arm again, he is confused and the nurses just dont seem to care one bit. if its not the wrong medication its to much laxative. they didnt give him a fluid drip for 4 days after he arrived it shoud have been there number one priorty! they wont allow him to lie in bed during the day and if he gets tired he has to sleep in his chair which is dangerous incase he falls out after all he is elderly! i would never recommnded this hospital to anyone. and i know if anything happens to me or my children i would never request here!

Dear Madam, I have just read your review and sure you can appreciate just how concerned I was to read the content. The care you describe is extremely poor and falls a long way short of the expectations we have of our staff - I am extremely sorry that this has been your experience. The concerns you raise are extremely serious and demand urgent attention - please get in touch with me directly annie.laverty@nhct.nhs so that I can understand more about what happened. Whilst your post remains anonymous I am unfortunately unable to act any further. Thank you, Annie Laverty - Director of Patient Experience
