About: St Helier Hospital

Really good service overall. Staff put me at my ease. Couple of suggestions though. The patient information leaflet sent out before needs updating if it hasn't been already. It said that I would have a anaesthetic and that I would not be able to drive or work after. When I attended I was surprised to be asked 'whether or not I wanted an anaesthetic' at all! When I concluded that I did, a helpful member of staff asked me 'which one' I wanted (intravenous or gas & air)! When explained that gas and air available and I would be fine to drive half an hour later, it was clearly my preferred choice. However, it had not been due to the thoughtfulness of the individual member of staff I doubt I would have had any choice. Is gas & air now routinely available for this?
