"Why can't I see the doctor I'm supposed to?"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I have had 4 or 5 appointments at Crosshouse hospital where I am due to see a specific doctor, however each time I go I never see them, it’s always someone else.

I’ve been advised to put an ice patch on my eye but that does not seem to work. Why can’t I see the doctor I’m supposed to?

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Name614,

This must be really frustrating for you. As a member of staff, I can appreciate how this can happen but it would seem reasonable to be able to see the right doctor sometimes. I will need to ask the service if they can help with this. Perhaps if I could find out some details off line, it would help us to look at this and maybe it is possible to arrange for you to see the specific doctor on your next scheduled visit. My phone number is 01563 826222 and my personal email address is eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk. We would need your name, address and date of birth. (This will be kept in strict confidence)

I hope we can help,

Kind regards,

Eunice

Dear Name614,

I have discussed this with the relevant manager and she has explained

'Patients are booked for a particular doctor’s clinic and not for a named doctor unless the consultant has specified that he/she must see the patient rather than a member of the consultant’s team'.

The manger is keen to check if your consultant has stipulated that they should see you. My phone number is 01563 826222 and my personal email address is eunice.goodwin@aapct.scot.nhs.uk if you would like to contact me with your details to let us check this out for you.

Best wishes,

Eunice
