I am a son writing this on behalf of my 88 year old mother (Joan Smith). My mother was taken into Broomfield suffering from pneumonia and a cardiac arrest. The ambulance was with her almost immediately, A&E and the Resuscitation team worked extremely hard and saved her life as she was so poorly. Once stable she was moved to the High Dependency Unit where she received excellent care. I spent many hours with her and could not help noticing how compassionate and caring the staff were. My mother improved enough to be moved to the ESS ward where again I was very happy with her treatment. If I or my mother have any comments about the downside, it would be a) the food in general is only just about acceptable and b) upon discharge notification it took over 2 and a half hours to sign off and source departure. We were also listening to patients that it had taken even longer for them to leave the hospital. When you weigh up the good versus the less significant bad, my mother is now at home and moaning as usual thank goodness. So many thanks Broomfield Hospital. Regards, Ian.
