Although treatment for dangerous and acute conditions is excellent the treatment for lesser things is hit and miss. My husbands leg ulcers got worse and increased in size due to inappropriate treatments. The doctors and nurses were hard to convince that they were doing the wrong thing. If they consulted the records from Maidstone they would have known. There is a culture of blaming the patient for their condition. eg. " He scratches it" or "He doesn't try" ignoring the patients weakness or confusion. There is also a lack of knowledge about insulin, when to give injections and how to handle Novomix. It should be rolled to mix not shaken or turned upside down. These affect the consistency and means the patient is not getting the correct dose therefore affecting the control of their sugar levels. Some injections were forgotten and given at the wrong time.
