" Kings patient for 50 Years-Lovely Care"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

This is the 1st time I have been in 14 months and it all feels very different so far so good. I have been warned that I need my eyes looked at which will be another appointment. It used to be all done here, see the doctor and then see another specialist for eyes so its a shame that now I will have to take another day off to have another appointment.

In June 2013 my next appointment was given for June 2014, they used to be every 4 months. It was then put off until August so ended up being 15 months. 12 months was a shock at the time, I can see why as my condition is quite stable and I was told if I had any problems in the 12 months to ring up - I assume I could have rang.

I would not have wanted any tests or anything in between. I have been coming here 50 years, the wait’s a hassle but I just relax as I have taken the day off. All the care is lovely, and the Drs really listen to you.

What’s helped me is my one touch blood sugar monitor needed to be reset and the lady at the clinic has done it – and it’s in line with the new one.

The test results all get fed into the computer. I have a slight issue with the form I have to fill in. I have been on insulin for 50 years and most of it does not feel useful although a couple of questions are relevant.
