"Costly exercise"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

This was a waste of time – both mine as well as yours. All you did was refer me to the hospital I chose and they did the rest. How could you get it wrong. Why not scrap this costly exercise and just invite people to contact you if they are not satisfied? Quicker, easier and cheaper! ! !

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our request for feedback.

I am pleased to note that you knew exactly which hospital you wanted to attend and that TRAQS were able to assist you in ensuring that your referral was passed to that hospital and you can be seen there.

However, I am sure you are aware that not every patient is so well informed and patients are often unaware of exactly which hospitals they can attend for the treatment required.

For at least 9 years patients have been able to choose what hospital they attend although Choice was not always offered when the referral was made. Since TRAQS began in June 2012 we have been able to ensure that every patient referred by their GP viaTRAQS is offered Choice in line with the NHS Patient's Charter which is every patient's legal right..

TRAQS is able to offer patients NHS appointments anywhere in England. Part of TRAQS role is to assist the patient to make an informed Choice as to where they would prefer to be seen.

TRAQS appreciates all feedback as it helps us to develop the service further for the benefit of patients registered with GP practices within the Telford and Wrekin area.
