"Good care, appaling customer service at reception"

About: Chippenham Community Hospital

Visited Chippenham Hospital Minor Injuries Unit on evening of 17th August 2014. On arriving at reception, the receptionist was rude and disinterested. With the exception of having to look up to notice someone had actually arrived at reception, this was the first and last time eye contact was provided. No welcome was given. Staring at the computer, questions were asked abruptly and impolitely ("Name? Age? Visited before?") No please, thank you, no empathy or even any basic interpersonal skills, and finally a dismissive sweep of the hand to go to the nurses station. The hospital wasn't busy, so there is simply no excuse. Working on reception is, by its very nature, a customer facing role. If your receptionist can't be bothered to show basic social skills and politeness, she need to find another job. I must say that the actual care received was good however.
