"I was a patient at the minor injuries ..."

About: St Bartholomew's Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was a patient at the minor injuries unit, needing stitches in my leg.

The care given by the nurses was excellent - they were communicative and friendly, and very professional.

What could be improved

The Minor Injuries Unit is an organizational nightmare. There was no receptionist to take patient details, fine, but also NO VISIBLE SIGN telling new patients what to do. I read every sign on every wall, all to no avail. It turned out that the instructions to call a receptionist to register yourself are located on a sheet of paper ON A DESK where you can make the call to register. For the price of a large piece of paper, all instructions for incoming patients could be conoslidated in one place and posted prominently on the wall. Every patient who came in after me had the same trouble, milling about with no idea what to do, until I explained it to them.

Anything else?

There were numerous employees wandering about, and none of them offered at any time to assist the obviously confused patients who were standing around. I had to ask several employees who work in the area (behind the green door adjoing the Minor Injury Unit) before I found one who had any idea how patients were expected to register. Frustrating! worl
