"Upset with recent visit to A&E Dept Boston Pilgrim"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Recently, I had to be treated in the A & E Dept of Boston Pilgrim Hospital. Transported from my home via Ambulance, I was suffering with severe abdominal pains, I was also vomiting at the time. On arrival, I was left to wait for a doctor to come and assess me. Was given pain relief direct into my system and attached to a drip, was sent for an x-ray, felt very drugged up during my consultation with the doctor and when sent for my x-ray, cannot fully remember anything the doctor said due to the drug given to help relive the pain I was in.

At 3.00 am, I was visited by a nurse who slapped me on the leg and said that I could go home. She detached any tubes/wires attached to me and I was then left to my own devices with my partner. I was shaky getting to my feet as very sleepy, not able to walk very well. I needed to go to the toilet, on my way to the toilet I was still vomiting. On leaving the toilet I nearly fainted and again continued to be sick. There were doctors and nurses in the A & E dept and non of them came to our assistance!

We had arrived by ambulance and was not asked how we were going to make the 18 mile journey home. Being supported by my partner we made our way to the waiting room, where we had to wait until 4.00 am for a lift home (during this time I was continuing to vomit and felt shaky and unable to really focus). Not one member of medical staff came to ask if I needed any help. I feel that is totally unacceptable treatment.

I think that I was left to go on my way because of the target of getting someone off a trolley within 4 hours. If so, I think this is disgusting treatment of anyone. I pay my taxes to get help when I need it. I would like some response to this please.
