"Thorough and compassionate care."

I was admitted as an emergency on Sat 10th August, following a first seizure and a prolonged period of unconsciousness. My experience in A&E (my husband's recollection rather than mine) and subsequently on the HDU and then Graffham ward was of excellent care. The clinical standard across a multi-disciplinary team of doctors was impressive; tests were extensive, and communications were clear and timely (this involved Neurology and Cardiology as well as General Medicine). Nursing on Graffam ward was exemplary. I had the opportunity to observe how elderly patients in particular were treated with kindness and patience. Cleanliness and housekeeping, again excellent. We often hear media reports about the 'failure' of the NHS'. This was the NHS at its impressive best. I recently spent 10 weeks as an inpatient at a large teaching hospital in London with a high standard of clinical excellence. While I remain very grateful for the care I received there, St Richards compares favourably, particularly for the more human touch. Heartfelt thanks to all involved.
