"I had care and dignity shown to ..."

About: Leighton Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I had care and dignity shown to me by only ONE

member of medical staff.

What could be improved

A sympathetic attitude to my plight as I was extremely nauseous and vomiting which caused my stomach to feel like a steel band had been put around it. I was asked questions in a cold and hostile manner by the first nurse who saw me.

Anything else?

This person dropped a folded up blanket on me when it was apparent that I was shivering uncontrollably - I had to struggle unfolding it bearilng in mind the predicament I was in as already stated and the fact that I was on a high trolley!

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. We have made inquiries relating to the issues you have raised and can only apologise if the nursing staff came across in a cold and hostile manner. Regardless of the time day or the number of patients being attended to, staff should always treat patients with dignity and respect. The member of staff in question has been spoken to and has asked that her apologies be passed on to yourself. I can also advise that the senior nurse on the unit has agreed to issue a general reminder to all staff of the importance of good customer relations. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
