"Wonderful care and treatment for my mother in Oxford"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / General medicine John Radcliffe Hospital / General surgery Oxfordshire PCT / Speech and language therapy

(as a service user),

My mother recently had a brainstem stroke whilst staying with me in Oxford.

She was rushed into the medical admissions unit at the John Radcliffe hospital. I am a member of staff in the hospital and have never before experienced life on the other side of the fence, but I was amazed at how kind, caring and knowledgable my colleagues were, not just with my mother, but with every other patient. They weren't giving me the 'special' treatment I can assure you.

Unfortunately my mother had to stay in hospital for 8 weeks and was under the care of several different teams so moved around quite a bit. This was done with full explanations of the reason to move and we were informed that she had moved.

I would like to particularly thank Dr Salmon for his extra special care and for taking the time to fully explain what was going on, and to the doctors and nurses on Neurology in the West Wing who were so concerned about her safe discharge arrangements. It has been 3 months now and we apparently have only a couple more days before she can return home.

So Thank You everyone for all your care - You really are GREAT! Thanks.
