"Poor treatment at CUH following hip fracture;"

About: Croydon University Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

1. Day of operation in March I was left in a side room in Queens 3 ward for four hours 6. 00-10. 00om, with door shut & a non working bell. No hourly observations were carried out. Nor was I given any pain medication, a drink or water to wash in, in spite of requesting these from doctor at 6. 00pm. Realising bell not working, I heard staff outside door and shouted but they ignored me. I rang telephone operator who said he was only responsible for TV! and refused to phone ward or help Asked another operator to ask police to phone ward – nothing done, Eventually at 10. 00pm a staff? nurse strolled in and said above incidents were nothing to do with her – she had not been there. Clear that doctor’s instructions had not been carried out by day shift and not passed on to night shift.. I feel this was a serious breach of safeguarding & H & S regulations.

2. Discourteous, unpleasant and unhelpful behaviour by two nurses (one on Queens 3 ward and the a senior nurse on Queens 2 ward – the latter before operation).
