"Sons visit to minor injuries unit"

About: Samuel Johnson Community Hospital

My teenage son attended the unit on Sunday and Tuesday this week with a wrist injury and for x ray follow up. Even though the receptionist could have been more friendly and welcoming, the nurse who dealt with my son was excellent. A paediatric trained nurse was very professional. Her manner and assessment was excellent and her communication with my son and myself was exemplary. In this world of targets and cut backs she was efficient but at the same time listened, involved us and made us feel that she genuinely cared. When we returned for x- Ray on Tuesday we were fortunate enough to see the same nurse again and I know my son felt at ease and in good hands, as did I. She also did a follow up call to complete the cycle of care following review of x-rays by a senior radiographer. I' d like to think this nurse is typical of the unit, but if she isn't, the other staff could .learn a great deal from her. Well done, and thank you
