"Lovely staff and fantastic tea!"

About: St James's University Hospital

I was transferred over from the LGI hospital, I wasn't told where I was when I got there which was a bit frightening but I was in a very confused state so I don't think it would have helped much. I ended up being on the Acute Medicine Unit which isn't a ward as such but has beds and single rooms. I was seen by several doctors who were all very kind and helpful and took my condition very seriously which was great. I ended up staying overnight in a very clean room by myself. The nurses were lovely and up for a chat and made absolutely fantastic tea. The nurses were also very skilled at inserting drips and taking blood - I have no bruises from them at all! The doctors were extremely thorough ensuring that they had everything covered and I had great faith in their ability. The ward didn't have a shower so I was given a basin which was a bit strange but worked fine, the food was hospital food so not great to be expected but sufficient - I didn't go hungry. They lost a blood sample but took a new one that came back in good time, it wasn't a problem to me. After being bedridden for a week and a half I can finally function again thanks to the help of this ward so it is very much appreciated. Thanks to St Jimmy's!
