Last week I taken by ambulance to the hospital with chest pains. The paramedics were fabulous I was dealt with quite quickly once I arrived at the hospital and every member of staff at every level treated me with respect and dignity explaining what they were doing making me less anxious. Once admitted to the very busy assessment ward I was cared for well again. I stayed there overnight didn't get much sleep as very busy patients moving to other wards early hrs of of the morning as people waiting for beds. The nurses worked so hard they really needed more staff from what I saw. Later the next day I was moved to the coronary care ward. Again I was treated very very well. I had to have an angiogram which was uncomfortable but had been explained to me. The consultant who did the procedure told me what was happening and what I would feel during the procedure. Later he came to see me he was quite abrupt which was not called for. I didn't think quick enough to question or reply but wish I had now. Luckily the cardiologist I saw on admission and on the morning I was leaving saw me he was lovely explained things and treated me as a human being which is all people require. The other consultant does a good job just needs to think how he speaks to patients better.
