"My stay at Perth Royal Infirmary"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / General Surgery

(as the patient),

I early August I was sent by my doctor to Perth Royal Infirmary to have a boil lanced, but I was unexpectedly kept in and had no tablets or washing kit with me. A nightmare ensued. The hospital was busy, so I was kept hours waiting for my operation, which was successfully carried out but I was kept in hospital overnight. I asked for soap, a toothbrush and a razor but there was none. Nurses were run off their feet, too few, and I did not get my Lisinaprol or Warfarin drugs. I could not get out of there fast enough once they told me I could go, but release took hours. A poor show all round.

Dear Beefy,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and share your experience in Perth Royal Infirmary. I am sorry that the standard of care you received fell below the standard I would expect, although I am pleased to hear that your operation was a success. Ensuring that patients receive a high standard of care is really important to NHS Tayside staff and I would welcome further contact to understand the specifics of your case to allow us to learn and improve. I can be contacted at feedback.tayside @nhs.net

Kind regards

Caroline
