"childrens ward"

on Monday 11th August 2014, my 11 month old daughter sustained a bump on the head and due to my town Ross-on-wye having poor medical dervices available i was advised to take her to Hereford county A&E department, which myself and my partner did, we were in A&E for atleast an hour before being seen, then we were taken to a side room as there were no beds available, my daughter was observed, pulse, chest, temperature, fontenal, eyes and ears, all seemed ok and resposive, we were advised for her to go up to the childrens ward to be observed further fr precautions, we had to wait on the childrens ward in the corridor as there were no beds available at the time, so we had to wait 45 minutes on a chair with a very tired and upset baby before anyone coming to update us with anything, we were then escorted to a room by a lovely nurse whom made us feel welcome and relaxed, we talked through the incident and she read through the notes to make sure everything was right, the nurse said "shes had her bloods checked, thats good" i was a little confused and said , sorry? the nurse said her result from her bloods is written down, my daughter did not have any blood whatsoever taken from her, not even a finger prick and the nurse asked about ten about times are we sure, and we repeated everytime yes, the nurse told us that a blood/sugar level result had been written on her records, very strange! the nurse asked her weight bt said she would come back and weigh her and do more obs' and the doctor will be along to check her too, this was at 8.40 pm, 9.50pm my daughter had fallen asleep and no one had been back in to check on us or anything, i decided i would go and find out what was going on, i went to recption and found 3 nurses gathered around the reception desk talking, when i approached i asked whether we were having to stay in or what are we to do, the nurse said that the paediatricians will be on at 10pm and they will come and see us first, which at 10.05pm tey came, did the routine observations and said we were free to go obviously giving us the instructed after care and what to look out for, as tis was a slightly traumatic experience and i followed the advice given that i was take her to hospital, i felt like i was there for no reason, that my 11 month old daughter wasnt important, that she would have regular observations, i didnt feel the care was enough, i thought i was doing the right thing by briging her to hospital to get her checked out, we are fortunate that there was no serious internal damage but if the situation was different and the care was the same, anything could of happened because of staff lack of care, that they maybe arent 100% clear on passing on information to take over staff and even the parent,
