I was born and brought up in ross-on-wye and have recently had a daughter of my own so knowing we have a community hospital is very useful, on Monday 11th August 2014 at 5.45pm my 11 month old fell from walking and hit her head on the corner of a kitchen cabinet which caused severe bruising, breaking of the skin and a lot of external swelling, after using a cold compress myself and partner decided we should seek medical advice because of her being drowsey so we went straight to Ross hospital for help, to find out there was nobody there that could see my daughter, i was told the doctor finished at 5.30 pm, they told me to go to my own surgery and try and get seen, which i did and they also told me they had no doctor and the next option was to call 111 and ask their advice which took a 10 minuted phone call of myself explaining the happenings and outcomes of the incident several times, im writing this in disgust that such a popular town has no emergency care that was needed for a baby, yes i could of phoned an ambulance but i personally felt the incident didnt have enough severity and didnt want to use an ambulance when i had transport of my own, fortunate for us my little girl wasnt severly damaged but the whole thing wouldnt of been so traumatic if there had been a doctor in the ross hospital that could of seen her, instead of going all the way to hereford county to be sat in a&e for an hour before even being seen, then waiting for 45minutes in a treatment room before being transferred to childrens ward, to then waiting another hour sat on a chair in a corridor with a tired and upset baby, then once being allocated a bed for nurses and doctors to leave us waiting 1hour and 45minutes before being seen and told we could go home, yes i appreciate we are lucky we have an NHS but to be treated like your a nobody is unfair, i followed advice i was given to be made to feel like we were a nuisance.
