What I liked

The consultant surgeon that I saw was helpful and patient. He explained the procedure of my operation clearly, although I was shocked that the results of my recent endoscopy at Burton hospital had not been passed on! In this day and age you would expect communication to be better, surely?!

What could be improved

Pateint advise. I was supposed to have my operation to have my gallbladder removed this morning after suffering tremendous pain which has been ongoing for months. However, due to norovirus, my operation was cancelled. Why is this virus STILL present in the hospital?! I suppose I will be put to the bottom of the list as this is not classed as an emergency procedure. I have been waiting since November for the op and now I have a further wait! I know there are people who are far worse off, but when this has been making me feel so ill for months, it is rather frustrating to be told at 5pm the night before that your suffering is still not going to be resolved with no idea as to when I will get another date. When I phoned the hospital this morning to find out a possible date, the person I needed to speak to wasn't there and nobody else could apparently help me! I can't believe only one person could deal with my question, what if they were off ill for a month?! When you have prepared yourself for surgery and then are let down, I do feel there should be more effort put in to resolving the problem to put patients minds at rest, that they will come to the top of the list, some time soon!
