I endured an extremely traumatic consultation in outpatients this morning in which the consultant seemed unable to comprehend that I was physically incapable of being compliant to the questioning or instructions, and told me that they (the consultant) didn't have time to wait (a matter of seconds). The consultant seemed unable either to observe this incapacity in clinic, or to be able to glean this from the extensive correspondence to the same effect from another hospital, which was in front of them. Clinic seemed very rushed in general. A very frustrating, upsetting and humiliating experience. I have never before had the misfortune to be treated with so little dignity and respect in a healthcare setting. Other staff were friendly and helpful however, in response to my obvious distress.
"Astonishing lack of compassion or flexibility"
