"Loss of watch & problems with meals for visually impaired patient"

About: Tameside General Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public. We have their details and will forward any comments to them, as they do not have an email address. They said…

During a recent stay in Tameside General (as an inpatient) I was asked to visit a different department for an x-ray. During my absence my talking watch (I am visually impaired) was stolen. I asked staff to help retrieve it but they were unable to trace it. I need the talking watch – it tells me the time, the day & the date – not just for everyday life but also for when I need to take medication.

Also, meals arrived at my bed but food was often going cold because I couldn’t see it was there or because I was not on the ward at that time.
