A Monday in August was a day I will never forget, returning from a great weekend away I was taken ill, so was driven to the A & E dept at colchester hospital, fir st. Observation is where do you park to get people into the unit? .
After being checked into the reception, was taken to the first stage assesment, where upon I was walked around to a bed to be checked over by the A & E nurse / Doctor.
Initial diagnosis was I had a possible mild stroke, and it was at this point the department and its wonderful personnel went into full swing, CT scan, checks by a stroke specialist, all wonderfully done and with caring about my condition.
They decided I needed to be admitted, so was taken to the stroke unit ( Amber ward) where upon I recieved wonderful, caring and very proffesional care and attention, but all the staff, physios, occupational staff, and the nursing staff were in one word BRILLIANT.
Hospital food, was good with many options of choice, contary to what many people think or the media publish ( dont believe all you read).
After 5 days was sent home ( No furthur treatment needed just rest and where better that home to do that! ), with all the medication required, so now making full recovery and looking forwrd to a normal life returning in the near future.
Overall the system works, so be proud of the NHS,
I would like to extend my warm thanks to all the personnel on the ward and the A&E dept for the care and exceptional proffesional approach.
"Nursing staff, in one word, were brilliant"
