"Visit to a and e today"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

Today I was very disappointed by my experience whilst visiting . Members of staff using personal mobiles. No drugs on site, staff standing about whilst patients waiting, staff discussing personal life again whilst patients waiting . Arrogant doctors. 4 hours wait before any treatment started and 8 Dr's supposed to be on duty. And it wasn't busy. Blackpool.Victoria has a very long way to go to improve very disappointed by the standards today. Only good point was how clean it was.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about your recent visit to Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I am sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the conduct of staff in our Emergency Department. I will be passing your comments onto the team there for reflection as I know they will disappointed to read about how their actions have been perceived.

Consultants and junior doctors in the department often use their smart phones to look up information on the internet from specialist websites such as the Royal College of Physicians or the British National Formulary (BNF) when making assessments. I will request that they explain to patients what they are doing in these instances in the future.

At times the department may not appear busy to patients waiting for treatment but within the Department it can actually be very busy with teams working in the Emergency room or all of the patient cubicles are full which can cause delays in being seen. The staff are currently working on the way in which they keep patients updated with regards to the number of patients within the Department waiting to be seen and the length of time as a result of this they may have to wait.

I will pass on your comments about the cleanliness to the departments house keeper.

Many thanks
