I broke my femur at the Tough Mudder Yorkshire 2014 Saturday event. After several delays and set backs at the events ridiculous excuse for medical facilities I arrived at Airedale Hospital around 4pm. And I must say I knew straight away I was in good hands. When I arrived my first impressions was that the place had been knocked up over night, it looked tiny! I was only 60 miles from home but had no idea this place existed. I couldn't have been more wrong. A fantastic A&E and radiology department got me to my ward within a couple of hours, there seemed to be a lot of trainee nurses which actually encouraged me to see how well they are monitored and trained. I had no friends or family nearby and my surgery was the next day, the nurses and all other staff were amazing, friendly banter kept my spirits high and ensured despite my pretty abnormal and horrific injury, I returned home with a smile on my face. Thank you Airedale General.
