"Pension Calculations?"

About: Royal Berkshire Hospital

My Consultant implied that my treatment had cost him a years' worth of pension. Are there incentives to not spend money, does the salary/pension depend on targets. I had hoped that patient care and treatment were the priority. I am left wondering if I have received the best possible care.
