After having treatment for Lipotripsy which I have no complaints about the department staff or cleanliness. I became unwell later in the day at home, attended A&E around 6.45pm was seen by triage nurse who was more than helpful and respectful. I was then sent to the green area of A&E and shown into a cubical, without going into full detail of the events of the night I will get to the points that I was dissatisfied about. I was catherterised it took three attempts which I accept however the same catheter was used twice which I am sure is not good pratice and increases the risk of infection which I did develope after discharge and needed anti-biotics. I was admitted onto the ward around midnight, the next morning I observed the house keeper with a trolly of water jugs which she was delivering to each bed area wipe a spilage from the floor with a paper hand towel and place it on the trolly with the water jugs, a bin was less than five feet away from her. The ward was not to the standard of cleanliness that I would have expected a hospital ward to be. I was able to hear nurses talk about other patients from other rooms and their problems. I am more than aware of the pressures that staff are under working myself in the NHS but we should never forget that patients come first and to be pleasant and polite costs nothing. I write this with a heavy heart but changes need to be made to make our health service a safer place for both patients and staff to be treated and work and to get a good reputation back in our NHS. I need to have more treatment at this hospital in the next couple of month and hope that my experience is more positive.
