I should be able to see a GP within 2 - 3 days. There should be a Dr in healthcare all day, not just for 90 minutes.

We should not have to buy pain killers out of our prison pay

Thank you for raising your concerns. We have reviewed patient access to GP’s and the waiting times and have changed the service to provide access on some afternoons as well as mornings. Unfortunately due to the volume of referrals, the waiting time can be up to a week at present, but if a problem is urgent the appointment is prioritised.

Painkillers can be provided to prisoners if there is a long term need that requires a prescription, or a short term need when there has not been sufficient time to purchase. However, individual purchase of simple painkillers for self-treatment is in line with community services.
