"Far from the 'best' Eye Hospital in London!!"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road)

On two occasions I have had appointments for this hospital at 2pm. On both occasions I did not leave any earlier than 6pm. The staff at the hospital are friendly, but I feel that the process of me being seen by different individuals was not managed well. The condition I suffer from specifically affect my visual fields and I was shocked that at my last annual appointment, they did not perform this test. When I asked the doctor who was seeing me why I hadn't had the test, he said that it was because they did not have the specialist equipment required to do the test in the hospital and it would have to be brought in if I insisted on having the test. I insisted and a few days later I got a note for a follow up appointment three months form that date. When I arrived at that appointment, I was shown to the visual fields department upstairs! I was also told that despite this appointment having been booked 3 months before, the doctor who was supposed to be seeing me for this was at a conference. Another lady kindly took me through the fields tests, even though she did not have the relevant history and she said that the results of the test would be passed to my doctor and he would send me the results. 10 months later .....I have received nothing!! I think Moorfields is just a well known name, but I believe that on the two occasions I was seen there, my experiences have been appalling. I have since asked my GP to refer me to a different eye hospital and my first experience there was fantastic. Especially after being treated so badly at Moorfields.

Response from Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road)

I'm sorry to hear about this. We know we have a problem with waiting times once patients arrive in our clinics and booking arrangements and are working to sort these out.
