I attended the fracture clinic for treatment for a fractured wrist. I cannot fault the staff who were helpful and doing all they could to help sort out emergencies and people coming in after missed appointments etc. My main question is why there was only one poor, overstretched doctor running a very busy fracture clinic, trying to fit in extra people( I was one of them). He was polite and efficient in spite of clearly being run ragged trying to look after so many patients. Surely a hospital which serves an area the size of Portsmouth and its environs should be better staffed for care of fractures? I understand from a nursing friend that this is not a seasonal occurrence, it is always this busy. Perhaps a review of staffing levels could be undertaken? They are so brilliant, they deserve better.
