"ankle injury"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I went to A&E last Monday evening for a suspected sprained ankle. The directions were not clear as where we should go - having got there and booked in, the waiting area was stiflingly hot - obviously no air conditioning although there was mood lighting! After a few moments, I was feeling very nauseous because of the heat so my daughter wheeled me into the corridor where it was marginally cooler. After 11/2 hours of waiting a nurse came and demanded that I move out of the wheelchair and onto a seat saying she needed it for someone who couldn't walk. I hopped over to a chair - at which point she realised I was in the same condition but took it away anyway. After another hour I was finally called in for a 10 minute consultation and discharged home. I honestly cannot understand why it should take so long. I'm beginning to think people are deliberately left waiting in the hope that they will get better on their own and go home. I would just ask why make the wait so unpleasant with unbearable heat?
