"I am well looked after"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital Central Lancashire PCT / Community nursing Royal Preston Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I started with chest pains on 21/01/08 and contacted the ambulance. I was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and was then transferred to Royal Preston Hospital ward 18 on the 07/02/08. I was discharged from there on the 18/02/08. From then on the community matron called on me at monthly intervals and would call in between visits if I rang her with any problems. She still calls every six weeks and I can call her anytime I have a problem. I live on my own but my son lives locally and calls everyday to do my shopping and make my dinner. I have a cleaner who comes in once a week. My son does the garden and someone comes to cut the lawns. I am well looked after and community matron is on call if requested.

Dear Address582

It is great to hear how supported you feel by your Community Matron. You also have a good support network of friends, relatives and carers which must provide you with real reassurance that there is someone there to help.

Thanks for posting your experience of the Community Matron Service on Patient Opinion.
