"Referred for pain management"

About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

In 2010 I was referred for pain management, I went straight to the Hospital (Dr Kikor) and within 3 months I was treated then again in 2013 the same thing happened so I have had 2 steroid injections which worked. I was told that I have to be referred AGAIN! To be told that I have to TALK TO SOMEONE ABOUT MY PAIN! ! I DON’T BELIEVE IT! !

Dear Quartz881

Thank you for sharing your comments with the TRAQS Team. I am sorry to read of your experience however, TRAQS have to follow the agreed pathways for specific specialities and due to the capacity issues relating to the Pain Management service at SaTH the CCG (with agreement from the pain consultants) have created a pathway for all Pain Management patients who meet an agreed criteria to be assessed initially by the staff at The Pain Management Service. If the staff at the assessment service feel that the patient needs to be under the care of a consultant at a hospital then the patient is redirected to a hospital and an appointment is arranged, although the patient may have to wait longer to be seen.

Not all patients need to be seen by a consultant and this new pathway is to ensure that the most appropriate patients are seen in the most appropriate place.

Thank you again for taking the time to respond. TRAQS appreciate all feedback as it helps us to develop the service further for the benefit of the patients within the Telford and Wrekin area.
