"Ward 28 depressing!"

I was recently in Ward 28 for 3 days following breast surgery. the night nurses were lovely, but the auxiliary staff had a don't care attitude, especially towards food. for instance,. the morning after my operation, when in a lot of pain and with little movement in my arms and chest my only choice for breakfast was cereals or bread and jam. Feeling sick I couldn't I stand the thought of milk and I couldn't spread the butter or jam. the auxilliary lady said she couldn't toast the bread as there wasn't a toaster in the whole of Pindeffields! But she did offer to go and get me something from the cafeteria if I wanted to pay for it! Not having any money this was not an option. I therefore had nothing to eat for the whole of my three day stay!. It was also so hot ande the windows only opened apprioximately 4 inches because of being 1 floor up. there was also nothing to do, no TV, and no wifi or phone signal. the ward is obviously not meant for people staying for longer that an overnight stay. My other complaint was with one of the nurses (name known but withheld) who made so many mistakes in my care and treatment and then denied every mistake when challenged in front of her manager. The main mistake was issuing me with antibiotics for 7 tablets, 7 times a day for 7 days, instead of 4/4/4. another patient was issued with somebody else's prescription!. This is an appalling state of affairs and doesn't fill me with confidence for when I am to return for further surgery. I do not believe that the new hospital is offering an improved service and I wouldn't recommend the experience to anybody.
