March 17th 2011 was a big day. Quadruple heart by-pass. Two weeks previously I had a small heart attack (now called "an event" for some inexplicable reason). Went to the doctors, gave a blood sample which went to SH. That night I was called in. Stayed for two weeks on A12 before going to Wythenshawe for the op. A12 provided a brilliant service. Caring, compassionate and a positive experience. When out of Wythenshawe, rest at home before back to SH for rehab. Again excellent service. Well run, informative and all contributing to a good recovery. Had a larger "event" exactly 3 years later to the day, 2014. Spooky! So drove to SH, where I was seen immediately, blues and twos to MRI. People called on on a Sunday and 2 stents later on a ward for R and R. Amazing service. Home, then back to rehab and now in the gym (at reduced rate through the Paris scheme). Have seen surgeon who now says I should not play squash anymore. Hey ho. 4 months ago playing in the British Open, now back in the gym. Still, thanks to the wonderful NHS and Stepping Hill in particular, I am alive, on 9 pills a day but recovered, monitored (very good GP practice also where we live) and back to some sort of fitness. Where in the world are you going to receive all that but not receive a bill!
"Best in the world."
