"Slow treatment"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) / General medicine

(as the patient),

Overall my treatment has been slow, some people are very efficient and attentive, others are not.

It took half an hour for someone to answer my buzzer the other day. I am a big eater and they don’t give you very much food in here, I'm not asking for anything big but getting an extra yoghurt or cup of tea is like getting blood from a stone. The food is good but there just isn't enough of it.

The good ones are very attentive, they give you the answers you need and they’re not false. It’s the small things that make a big difference.

The environment at night is unacceptable, there is loud shouting in the ward, someone is going crazy, he sounds drunk shouting and swearing. I'm the only one who has the bottle to complain about it.

The physio was OK on the first day, but the next day she got me to do too much, she made me walk up and down the stairs and my knee swelled up the next day. It was a bit amateurish.

They knew I had broken a rib and nobody told me for two days – I knew something was wrong and felt like they didn't believe me.

I am happy not to be involved in decisions about my care because the doctors know best.
