"Orthopaedic Waiting list way way to long to wait!"

About: Westmorland General Hospital

I attended an Orthopaedic clinic at the beginning of June 2014. I was told by them that the operation that I need would be 8 weeks waiting. I expect to wait for this type of operation but having rung the waiting list office today I was told that 8 weeks had now turned into 4 months.........! I have been tested for MRSA and had a pre-op in July, how do you know that I won't contract MRSA between now and November when I am now expecting to go in??

We apologise for the delay you are experiencing, and will endeavour to ensure that all patients wait as little time as possible. However please be re-assured that all patients waiting longer than 12 weeks will be re-contacted and asked to attend a pre-operative assesment again to ensure that all details can be checked and screening can be carried out again. We hope this provides you with reassurance regarding our infection procedures.
