My dad had very bad chest pains. A & E left me and my two little brothers in the little children's play bit. I had to look after them.

They wouldn’t tell me anything. Just my mum, what was happening. I’m a carer too, I needed to know what was happening. I’m my dad, mum and brothers carer. They wouldn’t listen to me.

My brother has Autism and has to go to my mum when he needs her, but they wouldn’t let him go to my mum until my mum came out and seen to him.

Dear Orange1

I was sorry to read your post. It must have been a very worrying time for you and your family when your dad was admitted to hospital with chest pain and more so that you didn't know what was happening. Communication with families at times like this is vitally important and I would like to speak to you about this further.

I am going to share this story with the A&E department and also more widely as it’s a good reminder of how we need to take the whole family and particularly carers into account.
