A family member was admitted via A&E, after all day in A&E was finally taken to ward b3, very old and shabby but the nursing staff were very professional and kind. This ward was the incorrect ward for the patient but we were told there was no room in the ward that they should be on. After 2 days the patient was moved to D4. The patient has advanced lung cancer and pneumonia. The patient has a lot of medication which they have taken , self medicating for months, this was taken from the patient for the nurses to dispense. On many occasions the patient had to wait for medication, and after several requests was still waiting for medication, some of the medications have to be taken at certain times to allow the patient to eat. One pain medication had be dispensed at 9am and 9pm, it was always dispensed late on the evening shifts even after requests. One evening the patient requested the 9pm med every 30 minuets from 9pm until it was finally given at 1AM. The record sheet was signed by the nurse stating the meds were given at 9.30 PM. I have photographic evidence of this and witnesses. The nurses made the patient feel unsafe and afraid for their safety. If a strong minded person felt this way imagine how it must be for more vulnerable patients. The nursing staff are a disgrace, they do not care and are more interested in putting up signs than nursing patients. If you get allocated to this ward please refuse to go onit.
"disgraceful nursing staff"
