I atteded an appointment this morning at 10am and met with a miserable receptionist. I was very anxious to the procedure I was about to have. There was no compassion from this person. I informed her of my appointment to be asked who I was seeing, I didnt know so was asked well is it breast or gyny? This seemed to be the common question asked to other patients after me, and this is for all the waiting patients to hear. I also heard a patient say they had left something behind last week, the receptionist stated oh yes that was when yiou had your biopsy last week, this again for everyone to hear. Confidentiality dioes not seem to be taken into account at all with this person. This is not the first time I have experienced her dismissive attitude, I had an appointment arranged a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately due to traffic delays I was abiut 25 minutes late, I was very stressed when I arrived and said I had been on the road for an hour, to be told, well the doctor cant see you now. There was no compassion or ioffering any sympathy, she was very dismissivel. I work in a private hosoital setting, and would not tolerate this kind of conduct as that role is the first impression a patient has of the hospital. I have to say however the rest of my experience once I was out of the reception area was excellent.. I hope this situation is addressed with her as surely you would want to be informed of your staffs conduct. regards Lorraine Mackinnon
