"My partner's cancer treatment"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary

We have been given very little information about aftercare and the progress of my partner's treatment. How long does he take his medication, who does he contact - his GP or his consultant. Yesterday's investigation - we think feedback may have been given after but we don't know. We had to ask a nurse, but no formal feedback, she was very good but the assumption was he'd find out in the consultation in three months time. Consultation was appalling throughout all treatment. I have no idea what was going on for most of the time and my partner didn't ask. He's too polite!

Dear reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We are really sorry to hear about your partner’s experience of our cancer services at the Royal. It is not acceptable that your partner has not received the appropriate aftercare and hasn’t been told who to contact for queries about his medication. We would like to look into your concerns further so we can give you and your partner all the information you need and improve our services for the future. If you are happy for us to do so, could you email your details to me - David.Peel@uhl-tr.nhs.uk Kind regards, Dr David Peel Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Head of Service Leicester’s Hospitals
