"Lack of support"

About: North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I wish I had never told anyone that I was abused when I was little. I told the mental health service ten years ago and I have been treated with nothing but contempt and insensitivity.

The Wigan Assessment Team have sent me on a computerised CBT course and it has opened up old wounds and made me feel more distressed and suicidal. Now it is nearly finished I just going to be abandoned without any support or ongoing care. They know I cannot contact the emergency number when I am feeling extremely distressed and suicidal because of the negative experience I had when I tried to get help in February.

I do not think they treat people who were abused in childhood, especially male victims, with enough understanding or compassion.

I’m sorry to hear that you have found the on-line CBT course unhelpful and that following more recent contact with myself you continue to feel unable to access services via the Wigan Assessment Team. I would be happy to meet with you again to try to find a mutually acceptable solution to this problem and to discuss alternative sources of support. Please feel free to contact me on 01925 664450.
